Through 8 hills, where before even you reach the bottom of one hill, the next one is towering over you, looking more formidable than the previous. The slopes are not scalable on foot, but have to be literally slid upon using your hands and bottom as support structures (in place of feet), through muck and thorny grass and no footholds (thankfully the rain god was being kind by not showing us its terrible wrath and maintaining the light drizzle that helped ease the heat that got generated with all the climbing !), through wondering what made us sign up for this, to enjoying the brief spells of straight paths on the hill tops where the world seemed to be yours to rule, with the wind in your hair, with mixed emotions and a crazy zeal for living upto your expectations....the trek, which became much more than that by the end of it, reached its culmination!
Exhilaration & the sense of self-accomplishment are unbeatable emotions! To have out performed yourself-nothing compares to it. At a time where every step feels like you are lifting lead, when inertia and the prospect of slowing down your team are factors carrying you forward-reaching the finish line is best thing that could happen to u!
Think about it, everyone today is talking about competition-about "getting ahead of the competition". Competition exists everywhere- be it advertising, media, placements in colleges, marks in school, marriage markets, sibling rivalry-the list is almost endless. The only way to get ahead of competition, is to better yourself, to stand true to your own expectations and then go beyond them. Nothing can stop you then!
